They believe in gun rights . . . wait, they don’t believe in that, either. In fact, lately, they’ve been pushing for confiscating guns. Illinois is already working on it.
Wait. Isn’t Chicago the murder capitol of the U.S., and nearly the top city for murder in the world?
Amazing, their very stringent gun control laws in that city aren’t working too well.
Oh, wait, they blame Indiana for that . . . even though Indiana doesn’t have the same kind of gun homicide problem they have in Illinois.
In South Africa Political Leader Julius Malema has proclaimed, “Go After the White Man… We Are Cutting the Throat of Whiteness”.
In 2013, Colorado Democrat Representative Diana DeGette, a lead sponsor on a federal ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines in two Congresses, when asked about how a ban on magazines holding more than 15 rounds would be effective in reducing gun violence, she said, “I will tell you these are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those know they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available.”
Apparently, she thought magazines are disposable. She didn’t appear to understand that a magazine can be reloaded with more bullets.
After her remarks, the audience in the forum at The Denver Post building chuckled.
Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith, responding as the audience was laughing, urged people who hadn’t shot a gun to “get to the facts … Let’s be educated as we make this decision.”
The Colorado GOP responded, “It’s extremely alarming that Rep. DeGette is running federal legislation to ban magazine clips, when she doesn’t even know what a magazine clip is,” said spokesman Owen Loftus. “Rep. DeGette’s comments show that Democrats are more concerned with appeasing their radical base, than standing up for responsible, law abiding citizens.”
Wide Open Spaces has collected a top ten countdown list of moronic anti-gun quotes by Democrats who have no clue about what they are talking about.
10. “Well, you know, my shotgun will do better for you than your AR-15, because you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door.” – Joe Biden, former Vice President of the United States and U.S. Senator.
9. ” Some of these bullets, as you saw, have an incendiary device on the tip of it, which is a heat seeking device. So, you don’t shoot deer with a bullet that size. If you do you could cook it at the same time.” – Patricia Eddington, Former Democrat New York Assemblywoman.
8. “This is a ghost gun. This right here has the ability with a .30-caliber clip to disperse with 30 bullets within half a second. Thirty magazine clip in half a second.” – Kevin de Leon, California Democrat State Senator and candidate for U.S. Senate.
7. “The Second Amendment only protects the people who want all the guns they can have. The rest of us, we’ve got no Second Amendment. What are we supposed to do?” – Louise Slaughter, New York Democrat and the oldest serving U.S. Congresswoman.
6. The quote already mentioned from above: “What’s the efficacy of banning these magazine clips? I will tell you… these are ammunition, they’re bullets. So the people who have those now, they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available.” – Diana DeGette.
5. “Well, if it can fire a lot of bullets very quickly, that’s a good definition… And then you can argue what a lot is, okay, let’s say three. If you haven’t hit the deer with three shots, you’re a pretty lousy shot, that deer deserves to get away.” – Michael Bloomberg, former Mayor of New York and current thorn in the side of everyone who believes in the Constitution of the United States.
After clarifying that “a lot of bullets” means three, Bloomberg went on to confuse fully automatic with semi-automatic firearms, and then pivoted to 30-, 20- and 10-round magazines as defining a so-called “assault rifle.”
4. “We lose 93 million Americans a day to gun violence.” – Terry McAuliffe, Democrat Governor of Virginia.
3. “…it’s a shoulder thing that goes up.” – Carolyn McCarthy, New York Democrat Rep. Carolyn McCarthy uttered what has become a punchline for every joke about ignorant politicians and gun legislation in America in a 2007 interview with Tucker Carlson.
One of the elements in her proposal to reauthorize the Federal Assault Weapons Ban was a barrel shroud. When Carlson asked McCarthy repeatedly if she could describe what a barrel shroud was, she finally replied, “I actually don’t know what a barrel shroud is. I believe it’s a shoulder thing that goes up.”
2. “We have federal regulations and state laws that prohibit hunting ducks with more than three rounds. And yet it’s legal to hunt humans with 15-round, 30-round, even 150-round magazines.” – Dianne Feinstein, California Democrat Senator. She also infamously said in 1994, in referring to the federal assault weapons ban of the time, that if she “…could have banned them all [all guns]…I would have!”
1. “…it is easier for a 12- or 13-year-old to purchase a gun, and cheaper, than it is for them to get a book.” – Barack Obama, former President of the United States.
How about MSNBC morons like MSNBC anchor Lawrence O’Donnell who said on his show “a bullet fired from an AR-15 travels 3x faster than one from a handgun…and yet the president and the NRA think giving teachers guns will stop a school shooter.”
I can’t count how many times military issue .45 ACP 1911s took out guys with AK-47s when I was serving in the military.
The difference in speed is less than tenths of a second.
And, let’s not forget that it was a handgun that took out the Islamic terrorists at the Garland, Texas “Draw Muhammad” event nearly three years ago where Pamela Geller was hosting; and the shooters had what the liberal left would call “assault rifles.”
How about the fact that the two Capitol Police officers who stopped a shooter from assassinating scores of Republicans in Alexandria at their practice for an annual congressional baseball game were armed with handguns, and the shooter had an “assault rifle”? Don’t forget, also, the shooter was a Bernie Sanders supporter.
Why does it make sense to the liberal left to let government have more firepower than the people? Do they not understand the difference between being a citizen, and being a subject?
Actually, they do. And their aim is for Americans to be subjects under the iron rule of a liberal left Democrat Party controlled national system.
Never mind that Barack Obama’s own study in 2013 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that while in America we have nearly nine guns for every 10 people, a per capita ownership rate nearly 50 percent higher than the next most armed country, mass shootings aren’t the problem.
“The number of public mass shootings of the type that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School accounted for a very small fraction of all firearm-related deaths,” says the report.
“Since 1983 there have been 78 events in which 4 or more individuals were killed by a single perpetrator in 1 day in the United States, resulting in 547 victims and 476 injured persons.”
Gun suicide is a bigger killer than gun homicide.
Guns are used for self-defense often and effectively.
“Almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million per year … in the context of about 300,000 violent crimes involving firearms in 2008,” says the report.
The three million figure is probably high, “based on an extrapolation from a small number of responses taken from more than 19 national surveys.” But a much lower estimate of 108,000 also seems fishy, “because respondents were not asked specifically about defensive gun use.”
Furthermore, “Studies that directly assessed the effect of actual defensive uses of guns (i.e., incidents in which a gun was ‘used’ by the crime victim in the sense of attacking or threatening an offender) have found consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies.”
According to a Pew Foundation report, “the vast majority of gun owners say that having a gun makes them feel safer. And far more today than in 1999 cite protection—rather than hunting or other activities—as the major reason for why they own guns.”
In short, as Wayne LaPierre of the NRA has stated, the best defense against a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.
