In today’s political conversation we are being told that the United States was founded upon slavery and that the U.S. Constitution is a pro-slavery document. However, the Founding Fathers expected slavery to be abolished from the United States in their lifetimes, and Frederick Douglass states that according to him, and his studies of the Constitution, it is not a pro-slavery document.
